Default SP 700 mid-range burble

Ok, guys, help me out with this one. I have a '03 SP 700 with less than 200 miles on it. It has developed a mid-range burble that is more of a nuisance than anything else. It idles fine and accelerates fine under full throttle. Where I notice it most is when I transition from a deceleration back to acceleration. That transition seems to burble and take a second or two to "catch up". My last major trip was to the coast where it was in the sand for 2 days. I drained the entire tank and carb thinking it was bad gas (I've been down the "bad gas" route before) Fresh gas made a little difference but did not correct the situation alltogether. I'm running 87 octane. Any ideas? Lean? Rich? Water?

Thanks, in advance.

Gary
