maybe your red light doesn't work and you don't know it, but it is overheating? Did the fan used to run fairly often? maybe the fan is not working, therefore the engine gets hot, and the motor shuts down when it senses it is too hot, but the red light did not come on because it is not working? Does the red light come on before you start the quad, like when you turn the key on?

THe fan on our trailboss runs quite a bit. 3 times in 6 months seems a little low unless you are always driving fast or in cold weather.

It gave it some good power, but nothing insane. Defeinately more low end, and a modest mid, but I would say that top end is the same. For the money, work, and trouble, you are probably better staying where you are.

I have an '03 Trail Boss and I have never seen a red light come on when I start my machine...My fan does work though.
Am I missing something..You guy with Trail Bosses, do you have a red light that comes on when starting?

On my Xplorer I installed a temp guage ( see pics ) and hooked the red light up to my fan so when the fan is running the light is on. I did this because concern that the fan hardly ever ran. Now whenever the fan runs the light is on. After doing this I discovered that 95% of the time my ATV runs below 120 degrees. At around 130 is when the fan comes on. I also installed a switch to manually turn the fan on if I want to. Just some info you might want to think about.
