Ahem... My 85 Trail Boss is doing great! i havn't touched the motor either, and it was even siezed up once (it wasn't getting enough oil, cable got stuck) i know of more people with 80's polaris's than 80's honda's around here. But thats prolly due to the fact that polaris sells prolly over 50% of the ATV's up here near green bay. ATV_MAN, I bet your 87 300 isn't all that differant from lets say.. some of the old honda 3 wheelers? Just my thoughts

WOW thats 15 years old. how many miles are on it? i think one reason they lasted is because they were much simpler than the curent models, especially the sp500. complexity can make problems.
i think i was in 2nd grade when your machine was made, man that was a loooooooong time ago. back in the good ole days

Hey Hermz, what trail systems do you ride on in Wisconsin. We don't live that far apart from each other.

Tim, the new Rubicon has 4 valves per cylinder and is 499cc!

The oldest atv I own is a '79 atc 90. In 20 years of riding, all that's been done is a re-timing of the points and a new set of tires replaced the worn out ones. My 6 year old polaris has a new tranny gear, chains, sprockets, brakes, front shocks, tires, bearings,.......... And I don't beat on either machine. (that's what the 250r is for!) The honda is so simple, there little that can break. My polaris's have more features = more stuff to break.

Hondas are built good.

my 87 Trx250 never gave me any trouble. Execpt when going into water over the gas tank....but that's not it's fault.

I just wouldn't buy a new honda. In the past i wanted a 300EX, but i'm just not crazy about them anymore

rooster, i havn't really been on many trail systems lately (have enough private land for most parts) but this summer i plan on taking a trip up to more northern oconto county, there is suppose to be alot of good trails up there

I really have no clue how many miles on it but i'm just not replacing the original tires, and they are almost TOTALLY bald, maybe a 1/16th tread left I really haven't had much for problems, i just replaced my chain & sprockets 2 years ago, and this year put on a new drive belt. Also, i got 2 shocks for it lately (one still on order) Its a nice machine, but i'm looking at a 87 250 4x4, that'd be nice
