Is the Sportsman Going To Be thrown Off Throne

You mean there is something you actually don't like about your Polaris hehehe I think those brown seats are kinda tacky to...What did you give for the Mudrunners Bill and do you think they would be good for rocks and loose rocks. These P tires are going, they are terrible holding this big beast back on going down steep hills. I am kinda leaning toward the blackwaters the P tires are great for mud but just don't have anything on the tread for gripping going down hills. Tim I couldn't agree with you more on the issue until someone makes an IRS on an ATV I don't think there is any danger of the Sportsman being dethroned not to mention all the other goodies on it for the price...

ATVing,
I had the Mudrunners on the Sportsman.I liked them so much,I put a set on the Xplorer. They are 26s front/rear.I went 9 inches wide in the front, and 12 inches wide in the rear.I used the factory rims.
I wish I could give you an ''honest'' answer on your loose rock question.I have not been in that situation alot here in Michigan. We did encounter a large, loose packed, whinning hill last yr while riding. The Sportsman was the only quad to make it to the top of that particular hill on that day.The Mudrunners seemed to work and dig very well for them conditions we were in.Now,for the serious mud/snow,the Mudrunners are as good as they come.If you think the P tires are good mudders, you havent seen nothing until you wrap Mudrunners all the way around on the Sportsman.Blackwaters are not a good choice for serious mud/snowy conditions. You can look at the tread pattern of BOTH tires and see a big differance in their treads.Blackwaters are just a good ''all purpose tire''.
I paid 357 dollars for the Mudrunners, that included all taxes and freight. The dealer charged me 55 dollars for installion.Best of luck,===BILL

I have KENDA BEARCLAWS on my old 425 magnum the steering is mucho better and the grip is great Since I don't ride mud can't tell you about it.But snow and loose stuff as well as solid rock they are great and seem to take a beating.I always take my tires to tire shop theyll usely charge you far less than dealer to change. Some dealers I have ran across want high as 20 bucks each.Tire shop 3-5 bucks to change them. Thanks for the info Bill I may look into the mudrunners before I get the black waters the riding conditions here are about 20% mud 50% hard pack trail and about 30% steep loose stuff. If you can ever get down this way Bill I will get you a free pass on the new Hatfield McCoy Trail I would like to give that new bike of yours a ride...who knows it might convert me over to a sport bike. One of the only reasons I didn't go with the sport bike was you couldn't get a trans with low gear and the IRS, I could maybe do without the IRS but they are some places here where you stay in low gear about 80% of the time and I was afraid of the belt issue anyway thanks for the info Bill C. have a good one.

ATVing, thats one of the reasons I bought the Xplorer,it DOES have low range to.Im with you,low range offers a big advantage to your belt.I dont find myself needing to shift to low on the Xplorer nearly as much as the Sportsman because it is a 2 stroke and it makes it's RPMs alot faster than the 4 strokes do so the belt allways grips tighter quicker.I love having the option of shifting the Xplorer down in low if I think I need it though.====BILL

Bill;one thing to take into account with BLACKWATERS,is they will add to your width,if you can see any mounted you'll see what I mean.It may be no big deal but was enough to make me reconsider them, they stick out considerable from the rim.CM

I have noticed Bill. That To my knowledge, not one
time so far have you made a negative comment about
your xplorer 400 which of course we all know you had allot to say about your sp500. I guess, it is safe to say that you found the atv that is just right for you !! thats what each of us has to do. We all ride different and have different ways to enjoy them, thus none of us should try to jam a particular atv down anyone else's purchase. rangerchet.
