anyone use a stearing damper?

It's basically a small diameter adjustable shock absorber for your steering. Especially during aggressive riding, is where they shine, but for all around riding, they can really reduce fatigue by reducing the feedback of obstacle strikes.

Sorry to post out of my brand (Yamaha) but I also run a steering damper, after putting on bigger, more agressive tires, every rut and bump seemed to jerk the handlebars right out of my grip, a long ride left me sore and tired from yanking on the bars. With the damper (PEP), it feels like power steering, smooth turning at speed, rough spots don't pull at the bars at all, and I'm a LOT less tired after a 50 - 80 mile ride than before. I definately recommend them for hard trail riding.
