Comet clutch for a 250
Well, it's bored .040" over, head shaved .025", aeen custom cyclone exhaust, exhaust port mirror polished, intake port polished, race ported, moose bars, front end custom widened 4",trans swapped from a f/n/r to a H/L/N/R,13/36 sprokets, wiseco piston and rod, flywheel shaved, snorkel up to the grille, jetted original 38mm mikuni, but no clutching yet.I've found out that if you take your time with a project it pays off in the end.Seriously thinking about 1/2" chain tensioner! And if the comet clutch performs like the 102c did for the sleds we'll see what it can really do!

Did you find that the porting or milling the head helped? The Cyclone cylinder comes with pretty large ports stock and the head is milled in stock form. (not sure if it is really milled but it is set up for higher compression than a most 250s). I had two Clones, one I sold to my buddy the other was a organ donor. I put the top end and carb on my Explorer 250.

Milling the head gave me a bit more compression, porting gave me more air the ports were already fairly large but the porting I did is about equivalent to aeen's race porting. The mirror polishing of the exhaust port seemed to make the "r's" drop faster making the machine a bit snappier. And the polishing of the intake port gave a little more volume. Most people think if you have a 38mm carb you get that much flow but It really doesn't end up that way.Look at a racing auto engine. If all the ports are matched up,smoother quicker power will result. And as for polishing, slide a hockey puck over ice then slide it on a dry road surface.See what I mean?Sounds like a bunch of crap but it really makes a difference. In essence you are porting, polising and blueprinting just like a nascar engine. An engine is an engine which is a simple machine to improve upon if you don't try to over complicate it.Use the knowledge from other things to improve what you already have. It's pretty easy, cheap and it works. There's a reason carbs are smooth on the inside.Don't you think your intake port should be the same way to work more effectively? At least these are my findings but most people don't take the time to do things right! This all appears to be a waste of time but, when you build'em right you'll definately turn heads and get better numbers.
