Tap GENTLY with a punch on one side, and that should rotate the other side out to where you can get a ball in, rotate it a little with the punch, and work your way around.
If it doesn't move freely, the outer part of the joint may have been galled when the CV went bad.

One additional tip, smear a little grease in the cage and carrier cos they don't rotate worth a darn when dry even with all the ***** in.
