Default Which clutch cover will fit?

My '99 500 Scrambler 4x4 clutch has been grinding away on my clutch cover that I once overheated. It's getting pretty thin and I'm going to have to replace it shortly. I'd like the new style that is more rounded and seems to not be as brittle of plastic. If I can find a used one off another machine, what ones will fit mine? Does it have to be specifically for a Scrambler, or will another model work, as well.

A new one runs close to $100 and I sure don't want to put that out right now.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks,
SnowDrift

Dont quote me, but I am pretty sure that they are all the same. I know that they clutches are interchangeable ( with the exception of the EBS machines) so I would assume that the covers are as well. I would try and get something 2000 or newer. Just make sure that your back cover isn't warped too. The new covers with the drain plugs (03 and newer) will fit from what I have heard, but you will have a few extra screws left over

I did the same thing with my '99 Scrambler. It is best to replace both front and back since both may be warped. New covers have more bolts also, so it's nice to be able to use the extra bolts by getting the new back cover to match the front. New front covers are all the same but back covers are not. There are two different ones that I know of. The location of the primary clutch seal is set back about 2.5" from the front edge of the cover for the Scrambler. The other back cover has the seal right near the edge. The '03 cover has a drain which is a real nice set up. You are looking at about $200 to replace both, brand new.
