Thumb Throttles
#1
My wife complains about her thumb throttle being to stiff I had put on a motion pro twist but she does not like it at all. Do the after markets like HPDs thumb throttles work any easier. I had also tried one of the thumb saver extensions but it did not feel right to her. I got her on the squeeze ball now to strengthen up her thumb. But I was just wondering if anyone had tried the4 other thumb throttles and if they noticed a difference.

My girlfriend want an exstension on hers but I told her it might not help because she only rides once in a while. Why didn't your wife like it? We have a Z 400 and the thumb throttle doesn't get much easier than there's.

The HPD unit is very smooth. The throttle arm is longer, hence more leverage, and easier pull. I keep the guts and cable lubed with Tri-Flow.....very slick. I'll be adding one to the Predator over the winter.

When she would let off she said instead of just moving her thumb out of the way to let the throttle back off she had to move her whole hand up bacause the extension would put it into her thumb and into her palm. So it would be like your throttle sticking on fast idle if you did not get your hand out of the way.

You might try to find a shorter spring for the slide in the carb. Mikuni sells different tension springs for the slides. You could even try shortening the spring in there now. The best bet is to find the shorter spring though. Make sure the throttle is set right for her riding position and lube the cable and throttle lever.

I got the newer Plastic throttle on the new Polaris's on my 95 TB they work awesome. I am going to put one on my 98 scrambler too it has the metal one on it to an is very stiff. I would update it to the newer polaris one.
