Default disconnecting oil pump?

$300 isn't a bad price for the topend rebuild. Just be sure they hone the cylinder/piston to the proper clearance (you would hope a dealer would, I guess).

While it is there, maybe they would have an estimate to fix/rehook the oil pump. If it isn't that expensive, it wouldn't be a bad idea, it is nice to be able to just add gas & go. Only you can decide if not mixing gas & oil is worth the cost, but I wouldn't worry about the loss of reliability. Yes, the pumps do sometimes fail, but there are also a lot of other things that 'could' happen, as well.

Default disconnecting oil pump?

Its pretty easy to see if the pump is working or not. Connect the cable put some oil in the tank and see if it uses anything. Make sure you run pre mix in the tank though just in case. Your quad will smoke quite a bit but at least then you will know. Keep an eye on the lines going to each end of the case and make sure you get the oil all the way to the motor. To remove all the air from the pump just prop pump full open till the air bubbles are out of the line. Then keep an eye on the consumption. If you don't use any oil your pump is bad if you the oil is going then your good but make sure you adjust to spec. You should always keep an eye on the oil tank anyways. If you know how many miles a tank will go you can keep an eye on consumption. Jay
