The 04 DS is 48" wide. But noticed he said a DS for around 3K. That would exclude the 04 DS which got the new width change

And his scram is an 02 which did not gain the extra 1/2" that the 04 Scram did

my DS ia an 03, my sport was a 96 when I personally measured the width it was 1 inch different, but I don't think the polaris front tires were stock size. The DS isn't any harder to ride on the trails than the polaris and a heck of of a lot more fun in the sand or out in the open

When I think of "technical" trail, what come to mind is the SLOW twisty trails that are BARELY 50" wide with ruts, mud, hills, off-camber spots, washouts, stumps, trees, brush, and rocks. Something that the scrambler excells in. In those kind of trail, the few inches makes a world of difference.

I think lightman02 just likes busting on Polaris. I can't believe he still hangs around here after all of his foul mouthed nasty posts.

Yeah, ok, I think that the Polaris guys are gonna say Polaris no matter whether or not it's right for the user or not. As long as they get the Polaris it's the right thing becasue you can't think in any other direction.

And there you have it. He's a modern day superhero out to save the average quad buyer from the evil Polaris and it's mindless drones! I need to go I have the uncontrollable urge to force someone at gun point to buy a Polaris.

Ive never riden on a trail that my DS has problems with. If your riding on a trail that a DS will have problems with because its too wide then it isnt really a trail. The DS stock is not to great with deep mud, theres not much clearance between the back of the swingarm and the ground. Get some 22" tires for the rear and 23"'s for the front and there ya go. Like someone said before, you gotta be familiar with your surroundings and no what the quad will make it through. Stock for stock i doubt you will find a 4wheeler with better suspension then the DS, it makes long rides comfortable. It may be big and heavy but Im 6'1" and weigh 160lbs but i still feel like i can whip this thing around, Im controlling it, its not controlling me. Personally to me reverse is over-rated, I know many dont think that. The only time I would use reverse is to drive it 5 ft out my storage barn, I think I can handle that. I think if someone "NEEDS" reverse, a great % of the time its their fault for puting there self in that position.

Ive never riden a predator, a saw a guy riding one, it looked nice and seemed to have good power.
The predator to me seems to be more of a "racey" sport quad, the DS is more like a "cruiser" sport quad. I wouldnt mind having both, and could care less as to which one you chose, im just giving you my 2 cents.
