i dont listen to the age limits. then again i am only 12 years old but i am 6 foot 1 inch tall and weigh about 170 pounds! on the other hand, ive seen a kid who was about 6 years old riding a sp400 on the trails. he didnt have one ounce of control over the damn thing. thats just an accident waiting to happen. a little 90 could never satisfy my need for power, but that little kid on the sp400 should have been riding a 90. his dad was just like "yeah well its all i got." its people like that who ruin the sport for the rest of us.

First off, im 15 and Im amazed to see how many parents pull up in there nice big brand new truck and huge covered trailer, then pull out a number of brand new quads. Then they let there kids on (anywhere from 6 to 12) and see them take off out of control, driving infront of people and all this, just being careless while the parents sit there and get drunk not even paying attention to what the kid is doing. The little kids have no protection or helmets or anything. I dont know how many times ive had to slam on the brakes because some little kid drives right infront of me. Now i dont really think it matters what age the kid is riding a quad, just as long as their parents are watching them or something.

First of all I think the age limits are a good thing. Second is I won't follow them with my son. He is about 3 weeks from turning 5 and has put about 500 miles on the trail with me. We ordered him a 50 to start out on and sent it back that same day, his feet had to stick out the sides to fit! Then we got him a 100cc 4 stroke and it was so completely gutless it was more like a toy than a quad but at least it fit him. Now he has a pred 90 and is in the right bike.
I knew that he is not even supposed to be on a quad for another year but I think it is crazy to limit them as long as there is supervision!
There is the key word in all this, supervision and it has been echoed in almost every other responce here! and that is what the govt. is trying to do because so many parents won't! When was the last time you herd of someone who was under control of his bike with the proper safety gear on dying? I know it has happened but all of the deaths I have heard about none of them had the right gear on and were not being supervised

that is the kind of coment that makes age limits work! Problem is young riders do not know how to keep themselves out of trouble and that is why it is so important for proper supervision!!! Just because my kid can push the throttle on my 500 doesn't mean I will turn him loose but others who don't know about machines or don't care might. It gives them some sort of a baseline to go on because they are too stupid to understand these are not toys
