If your engine is revving high, and your tires aint spinning, then you are slipping you belt and will smoke it. How long did you hold it like that? Fortunely, Polaris belts arent that expensive (compared to a Kawasaki belt)

called the dealership and they said I've burnt some of it off. Yeah I prob. held it there for 5-10 seconds not realizing I was burning it . BUT do you guys think I should go with an aftermarket belt or the polaris one? I was thinking aftermarket so I wont have this problem again...

Get a polaris replacement belt. You do not need an aftermarket kevlar belt unless you are running some serious horsepower through the CVT, which you are not. All a kevlar belt will do for you is wear a groove in the clutches before it slips. Not a good isea. I would rather replace a $40 belt than 2 $350 clutches

Thanks for the advice BBS....next time I'll know what to look for before I burn it. That's the only thing I dont like about my scrammy is the belt drive....yet I love the fact that it's automatic. Do the belts burn relatively easy....it seems like mine did

You gotta get used to it. You will learn to be able to tell when it starts to slip and know when to stop before you smoke it. As long as your tires are spinning relative to your RPM, then the belt aint slipping

Also keep in mind, that the CVT creates a lot of heat. If you are riding where you arent getting much airflow, stop and let it cool a little. The heat will hurt the belt after awhile

If your in tight situations like you were, never ease on the throttle, this can cause slipping. Give the throttle a punch to engage the clutches quickly and with authority this way it is much less likely to slip. These words come from experience.

Good advice...I do that when putzing around or going slow, just goose the throttle instead of a steady slow throttle.....sounds cooler too

Just tell whoever is in front of you what you are doing so they don't think you're being a "go faster" type.
