Ok I am an owner of an 03 pred and I am unhappy with the ride and absolutly no traction.
And for where I ride it was a bad decision to by the pred. I'm not bashing it, its just not good for where I ride and I finally realized this yesterday. but anyway, I am looking to buy a new 4x4 one of the big boys.
I haven't realy riden any of them. questions are:
Whats the difference in power from the sp600 to the sp700?
how smooth is the ride of the prarie?
I know the sp 700 is kinda bad on fuel is the 600 any better and about how much better?
which has a better 4x4 setup the polaris or kawi?
I ride rough trails so ride quality is important which is smoother?
Is the prarie effected much by having less ground clearence?
sorry about the long post but I really don't want to lose more money thanx.

I just bought a sp600. The ride is unbelievable. It has been compared to as the cadilac of atv's in the woods. The 600 and 700 sportsman are pretty close in speed the 700 will get it on the top end though. The prarie 700 has gotten great reviews, having never rode a prarie I can not comment. I know it is a fast machine. The polaris is an american made machine with great handeling, highest towing capacity, true 4x4, IRS front and rear supsension (I believe the prarie is not IRS), the down fall to the sportsman series is the weight but this really helps in the mud.

Go check out the new SP700 EFI.
1.Improved Cold and Hot Start(It is suppose to easily start from -25F to 120F.)
2.Improved Throttle Response(Suppose to be much quicker than carbs.)
3.Improved Fuel Economy(It has a 15% impoved fuel economy.)
-4.Increased the peak power of the 700 by 12%. They put in a new cam and new head design(they had to do this anyways to compensate for
the injectors). It is suppose to have a little bit deeper and throatier sound now too.
5.Automatic Altitude and Temperature Compensation(It is suppose to have more power than a properly jetted carbed bike at high altitudes.)
6.Easier, straight forward Diagnostics(It has a diagnostics mode built right into the headlight pod.)

1. The Polaris ride is much better than the Prararie due to the independant rear suspension.
2. The Polaris ground clearance is much higher than the Prararie due to the independant rear suspension.
3. The Polaris is a better mudder because of the reasons listed above.
4. THe Parrarie is faster than both the Polaris Sportsmans and is a better jumper.
The difference in the SP 600 and the SP 700 is not much. The 700 has a slightly higher top end but the power off the line is almost the same and the 600 is better on fuel. I would choose a 600 unless you want a Cammo paint job. I have a friend who has a Kawi 650 and he has had to replace the swing arm bearings, both front and rear differential seals in less than a year. My Sportsman has been trouble free and we ride in the same places. The key is to ride all three and buy the one you like the best.
I prefer the SP 600.

I know a guy who got to drive the new 700 Sportsman EFI, and he swears it will keep up with the Prarie 700 by his seat-of-the-pants impression. Didn't get to run them side by side or anything, but he drives a 600 twin right now. If you are looking for maximum performance, wait out the 700 EFI & compare it to the 700 Prarie. The carb version of the 700 twin will not keep up with the Prarie.
Oh, he also commented that the clutching was much 'tighter' on the EFI machine than on the carb 700s he had driven.
