Default so, ETC kills the engine?? how to bypass?

I'm trying to bypass the ETC switch to see if it's causing a no-spark problem on an 93 trailboss 250.

any ideas on how to do this? also am i wasting my time?

Thanks.

Well, I am not sure about your model but I can tell you how I test mine. I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 H.O. I pry open the ETC box on the right hand handlebar very gently with a screwdriver. Inside is the throttle cable that is connected to the ETC controller points. I just remove the throttle cable from the pivot assembly and make sure the points close. If they do, it’s working properly. (Closed points kill the engine)

If it’s the same, just verify the points don’t touch while operating the throttle (cable connected and the engine running or not).

Just unplug the harnes going into the throttle or press the throttle just a hair when trying to turn it over.
