Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass the overide button on a 97 400L Explorer? My brother would like to do it to his if it is possible.

Do you want to bypass it completely or just so it will back up without pushing the button?

Your friend may be sorry later. I did mine and put it back. One day when riding, we stopped for a rest off the trail in some grass. When I started ur up, my buddy pulled a wheelie so I GASSED it to do the same, but to my surprise I almost flipped her over backwards. If I haddn't jumped off in time it would have, ON ME! When I pull beside him in the grass I wanted to get a bit more off the trail so I pulled past him and reversed up to him. I did't think about it an hour later when we went to take off. Funny these thing wheelie pretty easy in reverse!!!

These things go as fast in reverse as in forward!!!

Needless to say, I had to stop somewhere to wipe!!!

I have had mine disconected for yrs and never had a probblem.Try following the black wire from the box to the plug in and unplug it.You will only need the button pushed to get the 4x4 to work in reverse. But remember that it WILL take off fast when you backup.
