First time to post here and have gone through all the threads trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem. Was on a ride yesterday with a guy who has a brand new Sportsman with less than 100 miles on it and it just died going down the trail like you turned the key off. Motor cranks but no fire to the plug. Called dealer and said it was probably a bad stator, that they had another one in the shop that they was waiting on the part for 2 weeks that had done pretty much the same thing. Never could get it going and had to be towed out of the woods.

Just thought I would come back and give an update as to what happened to this Polaris. Seems that the factory mounted plug wire between tank and frame and the plug wire got pinched into. No outwardly signs although the plug wire was suspected in the woods until he was told that it was probably the stator gone out. Back up and running now. You might want to check this out if you have this 4-wheeler because he was told that there has been several that this has happened to. Kinda makes for a rough day when you drive 2 hours to get to the trails and then end up having to be pulled out of the woods when you have a new machine after only getting to ride 30 minutes or so.
