350L 4x4 and 400 4x4 parts
#1
I am getting ready to rebuild my 93 350 4x4. This thing has been a tank. Other than normal service of greasing it up and adjusting the chains I have never had to replace anything on it except tires. It still even has the original belt. I looked at my new Scrambler and the cylinders look the same externaly. I know the porting is different as well as the bore but does anyone know if I can put a 400 Cylinder on the old 350 bottom end. I want to be able to build it up with after market parts and everything out there is available only for the 400. My goal is to get rid of some weight and have a 4x4 with low range that can still keep up with the Scrambler on the trails.

The cylinders will not interchange , however , the connecting rod and stroke are the same . A 400 cc piston can be fitted to the 350 cylinder . The ports in a 350 are almost identical to a 400 . The main difference in the ports are the "boost ports ". One can get all the performance out of a 350 base engine as one can get from a 400 base engine . And yes , the parts are available to do just that .

Thanks for the info Rick. I think I will get the cylinder bored and use the 400 piston. Will the pipe for a 400 explorer work or will it not even come close to fitting. I don't mind having to modify things a little to make it work. Also I assume the reeds and clutch kits will work as well. Do you know of anyone that sells parts for the 350 still or should I just use 400 parts and then modify them to fit.
