'04 Sportsman 500 vibration...
Hey all,
I just bought an '04 Sportsman 500 about a month ago and have noticed that the entire ATV vibrates when running high RPMs in low gear (around 5300 RPM and higher). I mentioned it to the dealer and he didn't think it should be doing that so he had me bring it in. The tech couldn't figure out what was causing the vibration so he called Polaris. Polaris told him that it was normal and that I shouldn't run in low gear at that high of RPMs. I have a hard time believing you can't run high RPMs in low gear but it's ok in high gear. Considering it doesn't vibtate in high gear at all, I think something related to low gear isn't balanced properly in the transmission. I have ridden a couple of other SP 500s and none of them have the vibration. Has anyone else experienced this vibration? If so, was it fixed under warranty and what was the cause? Thanks!

Mine vibrates like that in low at high rpms as well,...
IMO the reason it wouldn't do it in high gear is because it's under load,.. engine has to work to get it to that 55 mph speed,..
in low gear it's basically "free revving"... I leave mine in high unless it's time to climb/ mud / bogs etc.
