Default Front end problems...

well, i am going to go outside it check it over. the thing i am going to check (tell me if i am forgeting anything)

1. See if shocks are leaking.
2. Check tightness of the top nuts on shocks.
3. Check plastic bushing on top of shock.
4. See if ball joint is loose/messed up.
5. Check tie rod ends

BTW: My steering in kind of loose. when i am parked, i can shake the bars back and forth, quite a bit of freepley. How can i stop this? is there any bushings gone, or are my tie rod ends blown?

ok I would rotate them and check for damage or cracked plastic....now check the struts for vertical play....If you can see the bolt going through the upper shock mount (the one with the nut on it) move up and down when you compress and decompress the shocks you know the bushing is bad....

ok, are the plastic bushings your talking about the ones on top of where the shock connects to the frame? I was just out looking, and wasnt sure if we were talking about the same ones. i got a wrench to try and tighten the top nut, but the bolt its on also turns, as does the spring, so it does not tighten at all this way. how do i just tighten the nut, and not turn everything else? i am asking way too many question on this thread

im glad i could help DG,the play in your stearing is probably your upper bushing.take your front nose piece off and move the handle bars back and fourth, while looking at the bushing.if it has play you need a new one.i wouldnt bother buying the stock one again, give hotseat performance a call, they make a nice upper bushing, its a bit more money than the stock one though..

wow im pretty proud of myself. now that i got my problem fixed, i think i blew my left front shock. i was riding in a pit up the road, i hit this weird bump and the front banged down, and now i can just pretty much compress it with my pinky finger, and it has no "shockage" (lol) to it anymore.. so i guess its time to spend some $$ on some new front shocks
