Crackcase Oil Bolt Stripped
#4
I guess I'm going to try some WD40 on it. Then get some vice grips and get it off. The bolt is round now because it's been stripped. I'm gonna need something that grips it well to turn it. I wonder if I can use taps and a hammer to slowly turn it. I just don't want to break the bolt off. I'll get some more ideas then try Saturday.
thanks,

get a small sharp chisel. make a notch into the side of the head straight in. then catch that notch at a angle and hit it going in the out direction. also wd 40 is not a very good penetrator. try pb blaster if it is available.

sears sells stripped bolt removers (easy out?),,,,and they are nice to have around anyway
Vise grips should work though. Be sure to torque the new one to spec.

I second the PB Blaster. Also remember that just sparying the PB blaster on their won't do much. It will only act as a lubricant. You have to spary it on and tap the bolt or part to activate the catalyst in the PB so it can do its job. Just a little tidbit of info

I third that
PB Blaster has save me many times.
During the resto of my 66 stang i was stripping bolts all the time, i got a set of the craftsman "bolt outs" and they work wonders. I don't know i live without them before.
Here is a link to the "bolt outs" BTW this is the full set there is less expensive sets as well..
