Default 500HO or 600Twin

I'm thinking of buying a Sportsman. I currently own a 2000 Warrior. But after a few rides in the mud i have come to realize i really want the 4x4 and utility capabilities. I would like to get a plow and be able to do my driveway. I also ice fish where 4x4 is key. But my question is how much different is the 500HO to the 600TWIN? Are there any advantages of one over the other. I don't want a huge machine (not sure if the 600 is bigger or not) since i'm used to the warrior's size.

Our "Mudding" group usually consists of 20-30 Bikes. Most of which are Polaris'es and The Bike of choice for most of the guys is the 500HO. They seen to have plenty power for everything that we do and the 600-700's are just kinda overkill

All I can say is i love the 600 twin. when a tree is blocking the path, i just hook up the log chain, and its gone (no winch yet)

I had the same question, after riding both, doing my research, I settled on the 600 and never looked back (except at 500's following me)

The 600 has a smoother running engine with better low end torque, just a byproduct of being a twin.

Most people say the 600/700's tranny makes alot more noise then the 500 does. Are the new ones as bad as the older 600/700. I think the towing is 25 lbs. more on the 600/700. I think if you are more into trail riding and fun riding get the 500 and if you are more into utility work get the 600. Right now in Tenn. you can get either one for the same price out the door. I wonder why that is. I know they sell alot more 500's then 600's. You need to ride both and decide what you want.

You picked a great time to buy!!! The dealers are really cutting prices to make room for the 05's...

Here's a couple of items for you to chew on......

- The 500, 600 and 700's all use the same frame/rolling chassis.
- Due to the popularity of the 500HO, they will deal a bit on price, but not as much as the 600twin.
- I found out today, a local dealer is actually selling the 600twin for $300.00 LESS than the indentical 500HO. This is due to the factory clearing out their overstock of 600's.
- The towing capacity of the 600 is not that much more than the 500.

My recommendation.... Go with the 600.

you get more of one the 500. And 500 is all you need. It also comes with a pullstart the twin cylinder dont because you cant pull it over if it did. You know just incase your way back in the forest and something goes wrong. Its there.
