shifter removal

I don't have any pictures yet but I just did that very thing. I removed the linkage that goes
to the tranny but left the aluminum piece that was bolted to the top of the tranny installed.
I just turned the aluminum arm so it was pointing toward the right rear side. I then used
a small piece of metal. It is about 4" long, 1/2" wide and about 3/16" thick. I drilled two holes
in this piece of metal. One was the same size as the fastener that went into the aluminum
mounting arm and the other was about a 1/8" hole. I drilled a new 1/8" hole into the
aluminum arm. I had to put 2 small bends on the new metal shift handle so it would not
hit the side of my pipe. So with it all bolted together all you do is reach just under the pipe
pull the new handle forward for drive or push it back for reverse. None of this can be seen
unless you remove the seat. All the linkage was removed along with cutting off of the
welded metal bracket that was on the frame.
I've also had my seat foam cut down. My seat is now about 2" high.
