Default Scrambler broken shift handle

Hey folks, my buddy has a 2000 Scrambler 400 4X2. Over Labor day we were riding, he rolled it, twice, and broke the shift lever off. I did some searches and found a few things about them breaking, but nothing about replacement. Do you guys replace them, or just engineer something to work and leave the lever off?

I have no idea about this stuff, we are a Kawie family, so any help would be appreciated.

You can make your own lever if you wish (it shouldnt be that hard) or just replace it. Check Ebay first though

I've removed mine completely. I just have a small fabricated handle just on top of
the tranny. It can be reached while in a sitting postion by reaching just behind
my right leg and just under the pipe. Pull forward for drive or push back for
reverse. I have a pic of it on my Page.

The handle itself is well under the bottom of the pipe and there is no chance
of it ever getting hit.

My bars where one of the first thing that got changed so I don't remember what bend
they have. The HPD thumb throttle was also bought before I knew of anybody else
that sold them for TB's but I really like it. It has alot of adjustment to suite your
taste. I started with a 38mm Mikuni that I got from Hotseat Performance but had
too much trouble with it so I got the 35PWK from HPD, it works really good.
