clutch help

To clean your clutches, you don't have to get a kit.....a kit is something that puts different springs and weights in your clutch, causing the clutch to engage a different rates(rpms).....to clean, I have heard of using very fine sand paper.....

Blow the dust off with compressed air. Wash with HOT soapy water (Simple Green IS great for this, and PowerMADD makes a clutch and belt cleaner). Rinse with hot water. Blow dry (or start motor and let physics do the work).
Now is a perfect time to look for wear or damage. Weight pins, weights, and rollers wear. So does the bushing on the shaft.
Oil weight pins, rollers, and the shaft with Polaris Clutch and Cable lube. Use as little as possible. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, then start motor and let physics get rid of the excess oil. Wipe off any remaining excess, put belt back on in same direction as it was removed, put clutch cover back on, and go.
Clean your belt, too. Otherwise your dirty belt will just negate all of your work.
(DISCLAIMER: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T GET YOUR HANDS, FEET, EARS, CLOTHES, OR PETS STUCK IN THE MOVING PARTS WHEN THE MOTOR IS RUNNING)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF the sheave surfaces aren't contaminated with oil or grease, you really don't HAVE to wash it, just blow it out and lube it.
