I was wondering how often you guys foul plugs on your scrmabler. I have to change mine about once a week. which leads to my next question.
Since I bought my scrammy used, I have a suspicion it may have been modified. the air box does not have a lid. I can also tell from the paint on the bolts for the clutch cover someone has been under there. I have to move my throttle about an 8th of an inch to get my quad moving. Also I think im running rich and this is fouling my plugs.
If I remove the clutch cover is there an easy way to tell if the clutch has been modded ? How often do you guys have plugs foul? what should stock jetting be?
any and all help is appreciated.

The only way to see if the clutch has been modded would be to llok at the primary clutch spring and weights unless you want to take something apart. Stock clutching would be a plain looking spring with white markings on the ends (white spring) and s-55 weights. You should be able to see all of that. If you foul plugs that bad you are very rich. If you cruise at part throttle most of the time then you might need a combo of dropping the needle one clip along with a smaller main jet. Get the bike warmed up and open it up wide open for a good distance then throw it in neutral and shut it off. If your plug is black then drop the main jet one size and retest. After you start getting some decent tan to paper bag brown color then you can do the same test with the throttle at halfway or 1/4 and read the plug the same way. If it reads real rich then drop the needle one clip. Be care ful on that adustment as the 34's tend to have a lean spot in them.

thanks guys, this is my first 2 stroke. I always heard they fouled plugs but guess I have something wrong. I have my plugs soaking now, so I guess I'll know more tommorrow after some adjustments tonight and some riding tommorrow.
I pulled the clutch cover off on my lunch break the spring is just silver so I guess its the stock one. anyone know the spring rates of the stock spring?

The plug shouldnt foul. I believe the stock main jet is 230. I'm running a 260 with my mods.
If you MUST use your reverse rev limiter override all the time you use reverse this is a good sign it has a clutch kit. Otherwise it wont move.

i've never fouled a plug in my scrammy. 87 octane fuel, amsoil 2-stroke oil, and a 260 main. i would have to say that if you have to rev the engine up to get it to move then your clutch has been changed. higher power band needs a higher engagement.
