Re: Scrambler 500 4X4, Clutch or Belt? You Tell Me!
First off the problem. All of a sudden I am getting some drive slippage. It isn't engaging like it should. I am suspecting the belt is my problem, but I’m not convinced that is it. I’m hoping you can. I’m not hearing any strange noises ( I think)
Ok. I have also done some thread searching. My belt measures 1.125” in diameter (1 1/8). Most people are saying that says that means its worn out. Its part # 3211077 which I’m sure is a standard belt. It is approximately 2 years old. From clutch center bolt to clutch center bolt I am getting 10.25” (10 ¼) I have read in here they should be 10” on the nose, is this correct?
Here is a side experiment what it means I’m not sure. Rear wheels jack up, when it is neutral, both clutches are engaging and turning the belt. When placed in drive, the belts stops until the throttle is engaged.
Also the numbers face inward towards the quad. I am reading they should be the opposite, is this correct? The current belt was installed by the Polaris Stealership (They had installed a used clutch)
All opinions are welcome. Should I just buy a new belt made for a 700 like everyone else is saying and see what happens?

If you are going to put on a 700 belt, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put on those ^^^^ Anyways. They are heavy duty clutch buttons from HPD(www.hpd-inc.com)
