Sportsman 700 EFI vs Sportsman 700 difference explained please?
#1
can someone please explain what the differences are between these two ATV's? I'm looking for my first atv and it will be mainly used for just riding around with friends but also to be used in northern wi for hunting in the winter.
I would not think these would be to heavy. I am 150 lbs and have never owned an ATV before but I have driven one a few times.

the 700 eif has electronic fuel injection for more power and no need for choke and re-jetting, better gas milage
the 700 twin has a carb is cheaper and less pwer

Welcome to the forum....
The EFI is the 'Electronic Fuel Injection' version, the standard has a carb....
the EFI is much more sure starting, consistent acceleration, etc. Cold weather starting on the EFI is a breeze and it doesn't have a choke, that is automatically calculated by the computer that is on board. The EFI automatically adjusts the fuel/air mixture for altitude. Here in New Mexico I ride anywhere from about 4500 all the way up to 13000 feet in elevation,,,no need to rejet, the machine does it for you....

as a prev owner of both i can tell you a few differences.
first, with the carb 700 you will have to always fiddle around with the choke to keep it running on a cold engine. the EFI runs smooth at any engine temp.
second, simply put, the carb 700 is a pig on fuel. i would have to fill-up after short rides. the EFI is very good on MPG. very close MPG to a 500cc. very impressive.
there's really no choice- go with the EFI.

they are the same machine other than the EFI which is the electronic fuel injection system. the big difference you'll see between the 700 and the 700EFI is you'll get better fuel/gas mileage with the EFI. there is never any need to "rejet" your bike due to having a throttle body as opposed to a carburator. another nice feature of the EFI is that there is no choke to deal with meaning no nead to have to start your bike and let it warm up for 10 minutes. this is great for all weather riding and if your riding during the winter you don't have to worry about hard starts cause the EFI is guaranteed to start within 4 revolutions. I have two of these machines and love them. my cousin has a carbed 700 that we recently picked up and he has to let his warm up for about ten minutes before riding.
the carburated 700's power/torque/speed is almost exactly the same as the EFI. the big difference you have to look at is how easy to use the EFI model is compared to the carbed models. for the $200-300 difference I would say it's well worth the couple hundred extra when your spending the cash for the bike anyways.
