Sportsman 700 w/ no power (help!!!!!!)
I have a 700 that while riding last weekend started boggin out on me when trying to throttle. We were just blasting down a dirt trail nothing crazy no mud ,no big hills, just crusing at a good click, and it just started to sputter and bagfire boggouton me, I was able to slowly creep down the trail, but as soon as I tried to give it some gas it would boggout again. On flat ground I was able to slowly get it up to 35MPH but no further with out it bogging and sputtering. Well, I got it home and started pulling her apart. The bracket holding the carb. was broken. I fixed it and it did nothing. I put Polaris fuel treament in my gas tank thinking I got some bad gas, and this did nothing either.I pulled the airbox off, and sprayed carb cleaner into the carb. and then would go burn it off, repeating a couple of times. Now on flat ground I am able to get her up to top speed, but I have no power going up any hills it just sputters, boggs out and will die if I keep the throttle in. All the intake tubes are free of cracks and all my breather tubes are clear of debris. At this point all I can really think of left to do is take the carb out and clean it piece by piece, any help would be appreciated. I got a big ride planned for New Years.THANKS -

Couple of questions...
how long did you let the gas sit before you ran it? is it possible the gas is old and tarnished in the carb....if so, pull the carb off, remove the float bowl and clean all the jets, remove the top of the carb, etc. and clean with carb cleaner spray....
now more likely the problem....did you replace your fuel filter? did you replace your spark plug? if not, do so before doing anything else...

It for sure sounds like a lean running condition. Sounds like the float bowl is slow to refill...low RPM's and light cruise speeds are fine? Idle good? 3 things I can think of.. Make sure fuel tank vent isn't restricted. test by loosening fuel cap slightly. 2 check all lines going to fuel pump, make sure no kinks or cracks. you can test operation buy un hooking fuel line to carb and crank engine, see if fuel flow is present. 3. carburetor. check float level. make sure no debris is in the needle/seat, or main jet. Hope this helps you out.

since you ride regular, probably not bad gas....so check on the fuel filter or any other restriction....there still may be something in the carb or possibly a torn diaphram...i would change out the fuel filter for sure...plug change is always a good idea....
