Default Wolverine vs. scrambler

fishslab,

Was it '02 or '03? I thought they kept making the Scrambler 400 X 4x4 until '03.

I'm pretty sure it's '02. Only place I could think to check was Partsland and they only show '02. I'm not sure when they had the ScramblerX, but I still think that was '02.

02 was the last year for the scrambler 400 4x4, the "X" model. In 03 they made the trailblazer 400 2x4

Default Wolverine vs. scrambler

You know, I've given some " Less than popular praise " to the Wolverine in this forum, but I'm able to do that because I too had TWO Scramblers and a Wolverine at the same time. Both Srammys were 4x4, one was the 500, and the other the 400. Both Scramblers are gone now, but only to my brother, who still rides them with me and my quads. Anyway, I've given the Wolverine credit where credit was / is due, but I've gotta tell ya', in a mudhole is just not one of the places that a Wolverine is going to best a Scrambler. If it did it's only because the Scrambler smoked the belt and/or got mud and water in the PVT. Everything working as it's supposed to, the Scambler would be much more likely to pull the Wolv. outta that same mudhole. The Wolverine may have a tiny bit more clearance under the rear diff. than the Scrambler does under it's chainwheel ( never really paid any attention to it ), but the overall clearance of the Scrambler, combined with the fact that ALL wheels are pulling on it, combined with the extra juice either version of it has, absolutely finds it climbing out of more sloppy situations... been there, know it to be true.

This last statement only makes sense because the stock wolvy tires are too small and lack tread.

A friend of mine used to have a scrammy 500 with aftermarket tires(since updated to a predator) and we went riding quite a bit. Things like outright speed and wheely riding ease, the scrammy was definately better. When it came down to riding in the mud and swamps, I had to pull him out of many holes that I went through problem free. He never took it out in the deep snow much, but this last weekend I went through more deep snow with my wolvy than the 3 sportmans I was riding with. Also being in a area where there is alot of logging. My wolvy seems to be better at going over downed trees and brush than the scrammy.

I still think when it comes down to which one is "better", it just matter what you feel the most comfortable on. I have ridden scrambler and to me the overall comfort riding the wolverine is better. Of course camparing any two similar wheelers, there will be some good and bad points on each.

I also think that someone else said that their scrammy went places big utes couldn't go. I can deffinately say the same thing, but in that case I think it comes down to rider ability.
