The problem with the 2004's was well documented, and so was the fix.

There are 3 areas on my 2005 that rub the frame. I thought I took care of it, but my solution didn't work. I put padding on the frame. The rubbing of the throttle cable still wore away the covering. I only have 85 miles.

I wrapped electrical tape around the 3 areas. Hopefully that will be adequate.

I was in there tonight and noticed a black powder on the white padding I stuck to the frame. Upon futher inspection I noticed that it was the covering from the throttle cable.

Also check all your hose clamps. All of mine were quite loose when I got the quad. I spent a few days going over every nut and bolt.

Check your alignment too. The Polaris spec is toe out and mine was toed in 5/8". I checked several times to make sure.

One of the first things I did with my machine was check all the bolts. In my thread on drive fluids I recommended that everyone check their drain bolts, as mine was only slightly more than finger tight. Granted, they don't have much torque needed on them, but these were almost loose.

Some of the other things to check are you battery cable bolts, wheel lug nuts, rack mounts, etc.

All bolts should be checked on a regular basis. I worked on a Honda Foreman a couple of weeks ago, one of the symptoms was that when cranking it over it would die and all lights would go out. The battery bolts were finger tight....

I checked and recheck mine regular (all bolts I can get too). I found one of the two clamps that hold the hande bars on to be loose. you of course have to remove the plastic cover to get at mine anyway. Glad I looked there.

I found tape wouldn't last ... try using rubber fuel hose, i found that lasts ALONG time.
