Thanks for the heads up on the back-up warning device, I’ll check it out. I won’t say that “all things will be made clear” once I have a schematic in hand but at least I’ll have a vague map to follow in getting some of this accomplished. If that white wire is on our ‘05s then it should be on the schematic. Right now its more of a hit and miss, trial and error operation.

Tyler, I’m not having any luck finding that reverse warning device anywhere on the Pure Polaris site. Would you post a link to it or a part number? I’d like to take a look at it. I’m curious if it’s activated electrically, which means there’s an existing connector that it plugs into, or mechanically which would mean mounting some kind of momentary on switch somewhere on the shift mechanism. I’m guessing it’s electrical so we should be able to tap into the connector to run the rear clear lights.

Floodrunner - Here's the link for that beeper. It says it comes on automatically when in reverse, but it also has a button to use it as a horn. It doesn't say much else, so I think a trip to the dealer might clear things up a bit.

Do you have an 05 or an 04 floodrunner?

One '05 camo 700 EFI for me and another for the wife. She's a ridin' fool, like I am. We just picked 'em up last Friday. These are our 10th and 11th Polarises (mostly Sportsmans, one Ranger) since '97.

Thanks for the link, let me know what you find out.

Cool, sounds like you have had a lot experience with these. My 04 and my 250's are my first batch of polaris's, but I really love them.

I don't think I will be going to the dealer soon, but if I do for some reason, I'll look at that beeper. I didn't realize you had an 05. Those have the reverse lights stock, so I dont think you have the same need for another reverse light like I do. Have a nice night.

That’s where we’re both wrong. I thought those clear lights on the back of the machine were back-up lights too, and they should be, but they are “work lights” that have to be activated manually by a switch on the pod. I want them to be activated by shifting into reverse, as they should be.

On our Sportsmans of the past I’ve always installed a halogen light in the rear and wired it through the reverse shift indicator light on the pod. Can’t do that with these, but there must be a way.

Oh wow, those lights seems like a thrown-together afterthought, then. Somewhere on the internet I saw that Warn sells a backup light that supposedly activates when the ATV is in reverse, but it seems like one of things that may just use a switch anyway. All it is is one of their headlights with some wiring.
