Of course if you want to take your chances of walking back 40 miles in the dark and don't mind some hungry Mountain Lions, then ride without the flat pack....
Hahahah, I agree. I ride a 500HO and I usually carry two flatpacks for the long rides we do here in the west.

i'm glad you guys are enjoying your 800's so much. i'm pondering a hunter edition 800 (2005), a '06 800 in red/black, or waiting till next Spring for the all-new X2 500EFI.
what do y'all think i should do?

My first tank on my 2006 800 I got 45 miles, the instrument cluster started to flash fuel low. I took extra fuel with me but I did not need it. I did all types of riding mud, muskkeg, hills and trails. I do hope it gets better, I think it will because it was the first tank. Overall I am very pleased with the performance of the 800. It must be the most comfortable riding quad out there. I would have to question how some are getting 77 miles to the tank, maybe if they are putting down a gravel road for the 77 miles. So far I am very impressed with the 2006.

Powerslider I am not calling you a liar! I was stating that to get that mileage you must have been driving slow on a flat service. If you get that king of mileage that's great, you must have a special edition 800 that gets better mileage than the rest of the 800 owners. Who know's once mine is broke in I might have one of those special edition 800's. By the way, what were you getting out of a tank of gas when yours was new?
