Default Polaris Scrambler to Sportsman Transmission swap !!

That's a better price than i got. Mine was 1007.56 shipped. I used the stock shifter for high and reverse and added a second lever under the seat, (which i haven't finished yet) to shift to low. In order to shift to low you need to be in neutral on the high-reverse shifter. If you use the stock expedition shifter, let me know if it clears. I don't think it will is why i didn't use it. Plus it was another 100.00 dollars plus a new shifter boot and cutting the fender. The way i did it makes it look like a stock trani and shifter with a hidden low range. Good luck.

Default Polaris Scrambler to Sportsman Transmission swap !!

I just put a 2000 Polaris Xplorer 300 trans into my 2003 Scrambler 500 and didn't loose my top end speed. It bolted right in but I did have to modify my airbox to clear the shift rod (low gear) but it wasn't hard to do. The shifter is out of the same xplorer and mounts into the same location as the original shifter. I made a custom shifter mount so it could be mounted in stock location and removed the xplorer shift arm from the shifter and installed the scrambler shifter arm into it. Everything came out great and that thing is a work horse now. The best thing is I have the sports suspension with the ability to pull and plow like the utility machines.Oh one other thing get a used wiring harness off ebay so you can hook up the rear shifter switch so the 4x4 works in low range. The stock scrambler linkage works to shift into low range and I used the explorer linkages hooked together and cut to a length 2 inches shorter then the stock scrambler linkage.
Every once and a while but not to often you can find these transmissions on Ebay and the rest of the parts all the time.

Default Polaris Scrambler to Sportsman Transmission swap !!

Hey guys, I am bringing up this old thread as its the best I could find on the swap. I have a question for you guys.

I did the swap on my 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4 last fall and used a brand new tranny from Polaris. I now have 4x4 in hi only, in low range I have only rwd. Does this have anything to do with it having two plugs, and how can I fix it? I tried switching the plug to the other spot, but that did not solve the problem.

Any ideas?

You can swap a lot of things around, but there's no simple drop in. You'd have to have the transmission, linkage, shift box, plus frame mounts may not be the same and have to be altered.
