starter problems

Default starter problems

i bought a 94 polaris and the starter just clicked so i called up the dealer and he said to go by the battery, their is a cylinoid next to it. thats what clicked, he said that could be the problem and to cheak it take a screwdriver and touch the posts together. i did and it just sparked but now it doesnt click, the lights dont work nothin. also i did it when the key was on. maby a fuse if their are fuses i have no idea. any help would be great....thanks

there aren't any fuses, but there is a circuit breaker located in the wiring just ahead of the solenoid where you were at. its in a black pouch. if shorted it should reset itself tho. is the battery you have good? and all the wiring, grounds, and terminals clean and tight.
as for the clicking, the solenoid was engaging, but may not be getting power through it. or you have a starter problem itself.

I have had to pull my starter out a couple of times and clean the brushes up so that they will touch the commutator again. Water gets in them and corrodes the steel, which makes your brushes hang up. I believe your starter is down on the bottom so it prolly sees its fair share of water and grunge.
