Default Carb Help

I currently have a buddy of mines 4 wheeler at my house I believe it is a 99 or so Polaris Scrambler 4x4 I think. Anyways it smokes and it doesn't idle very good. Now what I was going to do is take the carb off, and give it a good cleaning. How hard is it to take off the carb and clean it? Any kind of Info would be great!

Thanks!

It isnt that hard basically pull the cap off that has the throttle cable going into it and the choke assembly and then the fuel line. The carbs are very simple to tear down and clean but the two stroke should smoke just not excessively. As for the idle part there is an adjustment screw that will help you with that. Turning it out makes it leaner and in makes it richer. Does it bog down when you are on the throttle? Or is the only problem when it is idling?

You should be able to get the idle to smooth out with the adjustment screw. Not for sure what the stock carb is on your machine though. With Mikuni they have an air adjustment and an idle speed. The air adjustment is on the left side of the carb directly behind the slide chamber. and the idle speed is on the right side. In should increase the idle and out should lower it.
