Default SPORTMAN CLUTCHING

I have a 2004 400 sportsman,I purchased it new. If I have one complaint about this bike is that when I'm trail driving and running a lot of mud I find high gear is a little to high but low is a little to low. What color spring would I have from the factory and what are my options to bring high and low gears closer together. I don't want to lose my top end or my bull dog low but it would be nice to leave it in high more when mudding

I didn't want the high engagement of a stiffer primary spring so i went with a Dalton secondary spring. Check out their web site as it made an imnprovement with the backshifting on my HO. The spring is stiffer and in high gear the secondary does not shift up as quick giving better low end pull. Places where I would have to shift to low before now go through in high and never lost any top end. I ordered mine from G Bourques in Moncton. Try the link below.....

KINGSCLEAR,

You can also try the Heel Clicker Kit.....

You can find out more info over at the ATV Quad Squad under the Heel Clicker posts. Those guys over there are a good bunch of fellows and they will hook you up with all the info you need to get the most performanceout of your clutching

Hope this helps,

KINGSCLEAR,

I kept my stock spring because I like trhe lower engagement RPM and I am using stock wheels and tires. I also changed the weights and added 1.2/4.3/3.3 grams of weight to the shoulder/center/tip of the clutch weight respectively. I also had the Secondary spring changed as well. All of that comes with the Heel Clicker kit....

EBS is engine braking system and is an option on the 400. Check your clutch guard to see if it says "EBS" on the foot well side...
