98 sportsman 500 popping transmission in reverse
#1
I have a friend who has a 98 Sportsman 500 that is popping in the transmission when put in reverse under a load. In forward, there is no popping at all. Any ideas on what to look for? Thanks in advance!

Yeah,
We tore into it this weekend and found about an inch of mud in there! We will have to replace the input shaft, reverse gear silent chain, and the reverse sprocket. While we are in there we are gonna replace all the ball bearings and needle bearings along with all the seals and the nylon chain tensioner shoe. DO NOT BUY BEARINGS AND SEALS FROM POLARIS. You can get better bearings cheaper locally at any bearing shop.
Thanks for the reply
