Default What about the polaris 250 explorer 4X4?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying my wife a 2002 Polaris explorer 250 4X4 with the 2 stroke motor, she's got the 250 trailblazer at the moment but when we went on the lake in the winter it took forever to get moving, does anyone know much about these small 4X4's in the snow? if so I would like to hear about them so I can make up my mind on whether to buy it or not, I'm only looking at a cheap machine because she dosen't use the one she as that much.

My wife loves hers. It was mine first, but I soon out grew it. It's been my wifes for two years and she doesn't want anything more. The '02s look the best as well. They are no powerhouse or speed demon, but thats why my wife like it so much.

I have two. Great machines. The 01 is designed a lot better than the 02. But the 02 has no real problems. Their light weight and solid rear axle make them sub par in deep snow, but they do fine on the packed lake in the winter. THey are good for about a foot of light light powder or a few inches of sticky stuff. Once the mud or snow hits the back axle, you lose a lot of momentum, as you would know with your trailblazer.

The lo range is a nice feature, I have pulled a lot with ours. They follow my sportsman through the roughest mud, not always making it, but always trying. They go up to the racks in thick sticky mud weekly.

Great machines!
