what is the problem

Default what is the problem

i have a 2004 atp 500 and it will not turn over unless i push on the throttle a little bit and then when i put it into gear if i dont give it more gas it dies and if i give it more gas it takes off what could be the problem

it nay be your ETC on the throttle it may be bad or you have TOO much slack in the cable.

I guess you'r cabel can be adjusted at the carb or at the throttle. Eithre that or you could fiddel witht the screw on the carb that adjusts the revs of the engine. Can't remember the proper name for it. Although I think it still should turn over.

if there is to much play in the cable it wont even turn over but 04atp500 see if you have any play in the throttle cable that is coming out of the throttle you should have about a milimeter of play in the thumb lever.And if that doesnt work take it to a dealer and they will check it out and if its bad they will replace for free if its under waranty or they will tell you how much it is to replace it.
