Just dont insert that needle INTO the rubber boot. I did that thinking that 1 little tiny hole cant do harm and they both ended up tearing and allowing dirt and water to ruin the ends ....silly me

Just slip the needle under the lip of the rubber boot and work it in that way it won't tear it...

Or you could just buy some extra clamps and remove them when you want to regrease. There only a couple a bucks.

I’ve been greasing tie rod ends this way for years (ever since Polaris changed to a hiem style joint) on two machines, for a while three, and I’ve never had a single boot failure do to the little pin-hole of the grease needle. I’ve had outer boots rip do to trail debris getting spun between the inside of the tire and the boot but that had nothing to do with the needle.

Polaris does show the boot as a separate part that can be replaced independent of the tie rod end but I’ve had good luck repairing damaged boots with Plasti-Dip without any disassembly.
