Default Trail mod...race mod... Whats all this crap?

Thanks for all the info.

I do know that some sort of clutch modification has been done to my Scrambler by the previous owner. WHen I hit the gas it has to rev up for a second or so before the clutch actually engages. I would imagine this is a different spring made to delay engagement slightly to allow a few more RPM's out of the engine, roughly raising the stall speed to a better power curve?

I also have a K&N filter also installed by the PO. Other than that I think the quad is stock. obviously the exhaust is but I wouldn't know about any jetting mods. The mixture seems to smell right.

I am thinking maybe a slip on perfromance muffler and maybe a rejetting? What will that put me up to? I would imagine since I already have a different spring in the clutch that I shouldn't hae to mess with it?

I'm dead even with our '02 SP700 and my dad's '05 Grizzly 660, a just a little more power to pull away from my dad's Griz would be sweet.

it is mainly to different the HPD trail mod engine versus the HPD race
mod kit with over 75 hp at 75-7600 rpm,15.5 dome head need to be tell also, flywheel, clutch, timing and ignition, all different setting wich increase,
or decrease power output depending ou what kit you're reffering to...

From what I hear the White Bros. slip on is a really good and economical pipe.

From your posts I would suggest the White bros. slip on. I would also take apart your clutches and find out what primary and secondary springs you have. Also check to see what your secondary is set at(1-1, 2-2, ect...) and if you can see what weights are in there.

THis may seem like a pain the first time, but by the third time it will take about 20 min.

I would set the secondary to 2-2 if it is not already and try that.

I also like the HPD airbox mod, it comes with the parts to mod the carb and will give you a little better throttle response and helps the mid range acceleration.

One of these days I plan on removing the clutch cover and seeing what I have. After reading and seeing a few clutch diagrams, there doesn't look be be as many parts as I thought they had and looks fairly simple to take apart.

With the WB slip on if you dont add any discs you shouldnt have to rejet. But these 500s are way under clutched from the factory and you will see more improvment from clutching than from a pipe.
