I wonder if yamaha has ever heard of the scrambler?

There is no need to redesign a Scramber for the track, which is what this thread has sort of taken off with. Infact, if anyone really wants a sportier Scramber....go buy an Outlaw...because thats basically what it is!
I disagree on the Outlaw, for my uses anyway, it's too sporty for me and has no 4wd.
I think the Scrambler is fine, just needs a 700 carb or EFI option. I would probably keep the solid axle in a new model with a 700, but I haven't seen an Outlaw in person yet. 4x4 is a must, otherwise I'll be keeping my current '04 Scrambler or just get an 800 SP. I don't really think the Scrambler even needs a 2x4 option, that is what the Outlaw pretty much is.
My point was directed towards the jumping aspect. It doesn't matter what they do to the Scrambler, if a guy wants to jump he will have to own a Predator or Outlaw. I felt this thread was taking the attitude, "the Scrambler needs A arms, fox shocks, 2x4"..... basically saying Polaris needs to turn the Scrambler into a Predator, which won't happen for obvious reasons thankfully. That "Scrambler with A arms, fox shocks, 2x4" already exists....It's called an Outlaw and should be at the dealers very soon.
The predator is not an automatic, that is the key. The kfx700 is automatic and to compete I would think polaris should consider an outlaw with autotrans and a 700 efi. Sure it would weigh more than the outlaw already does, but the KFX700 is not an mx quad, it is a great trail quad and I think there is a huge market for this!
Or
Consider a new scrambler redesigned with the outlaw idea(rear IRS), a new frame design that is aluminum and steel(think of the raptor frame) for strength in areas and lightweight too, a 700 efi motor, same belt drive clutch system as the 800(roller secondary), and in 2 models a 2x4 and a 4x4.
I would trade my scrambler in today, and mine is only a year old. Anyone that has rode a scrambler or gone ridding with someone that has one can tell you it is a beast of a quad that can do almost anything and do it great! The only thing it can't do is jump more than 8-10 ft high.
Its not that I can't shift as I used to have a yamaha 125 dirt bike, and an RF600 streetbike. I just think auto is so much better for trails. You always have plenty of power right there anytime you need it. Now that I have rode an auto for this past year I don't think I will ever go back to a manual trans.

Fine then, lets make the outlaw or pred an automatic opition with 4x4. The bottom line is scrambler owners want a automatic sport quad with 4x4. I think scram owners would be happy with a 500fi or a 700 fi. I think if they made this it would be the best selling atv. Imagine the outlaws handling with a automatic and 4x4. That something anyone would love for trail riding and would fit all riders. Alot of people dont like to shift anymore for trails.

Once again, to me an automatic 4x4 Outlaw would be pretty much another Scrambler, that extra weight would probably pretty much rule it out for big jumping.
How I see Polaris's lineup is.....The Scrambler is the bridge between the Sportsman and Predator, designed for work/play while being able to do almost everything the SP's can and still agile enough for play. For the guys that want a sportier Scrambler but didn't want something quite as agressive as the Pred...they inroduced the Outlaw, a bridge between the Scrambler and Pred. If they started adding all kinds of options like 4x4, auto, to all three models....it would probably be a parts and manufacturing nightmare, unless they could make all the 4x4 and auto parts interchangeable.
I guess us as consumers can never be pleased. I think Polaris was/is trying to fill that gap for guys that want a sportier Scrambler but not a Pred, with the Outlaw. I would agree, since it is supposed to be a trail quad it should have been an auto, but I don't agree on it needing to be 4wd at all.

The extra 50lbs it would add for auto and 4x4 would make it 500lb or a little under but it would still handle way better than the scrambler and thats still 100lbs lighter. It wont be great at big jumping but thats what true sportquads are for.
