i finally got my quad goin today and im gettin a knocking from inside the clutch. Its only noticable at certain rpms but worries me cuz you can really feel it. im thinking its also the cause of my slow throttle response which i really hate on an aproach

 

Sounds like the belt is about to let go. Throw on a new Dayco and that should take care of it.

 

Scooter is correct - Your belt sounds like it needs to be changed out - My brother in law has a 600 Sportsman that just blew a belt - his clutch was knocking bad before it went

 

you guys called it. 5 min into riding it fryed while out on dirt loads from dump trucks. good thing the guy i was riding with had a winch or ida been really screwed. where is the best place to get a dayco belt. will it handle the power of the machine?

 

I have best luck out of the Polaris belts.Ran a Dayco once and it wore grooves into my primary clutch.Never had this happen with stock belts.
