Scrambler 500 2X4 vs KFX 700
We have a 05 KFX 700 and a 01 Scrambler 500 2x4 in our stable. Both are stock. I have a lot of seat time on both.
- Stock suspension is better on the scrammy. More plush.
-More torque on the KFX. You feel a lot more "grunt" off the line.
-Top speed seat of the pants is pretty close +/- 5mph I would guess
-Scrammy is more nimble. Definately more "tossable". The KFX is more stable.
-More maintainence on the Scrammy. Grease fittings, chain etc.
The scrammy is my wifes and the KFX is mine. I am 6'8" 260 lbs and the KFX ergonomics happened to fit my body size a whole lot better.
We ride a lot of wooded , twisty desert trails that are bumpy. If I was 6'2 230 lbs I would have picked the Scrammy. Its just more fun to ride. I am just so big though it almost hurts to ride it. Does not fit me right. Stock for stock they really are not that far apart.
I took one of my friends out and put him on the scrammy. He is a little wiry guy 5'6" 125lbs. Hard core snomobiler. He absolutely ripped on the Scrammy !!
If you are happy the way the scrammy fits you, keep it. Avoid the depreciation hit that you would take when selling ( I bought mine used this summer for $2800.00).
