I want to install a K&N filter on my sportsman so I wanted to know if I need to modify anything else after i install it and how often does it need to be cleaned ?

no modifications, just replace the old filter. when you look at the filter you'll be able to tell when it needs cleaning. i ran a K&N filter on my 800 for an entire year and never cleaned it and there were no problems

 

you won't have to do anything, other than clean it.....do what i do, get two of them, that way if you forget to clean the one that is in the machine and you want to go ride, swap the other one in and clean the other when you get back so that it is ready to go when you need it...
