You wont give anything up by replacing it with the pink spring. The maroon is a little more agressive at take off so you wont get the right off idle take off. Just like any other atv. Why dont they put better pipes, silencers, shocks and so on? They tune atv's to be pretty tame from the factory. They ALL leave room for inprovement. Could be federal, emissions, safety or what ever the reason. All Polaris clutches are very tuneable like sled clutches. You can tune them to your personal riding style.

I WENT RIDING THIS WEEKEND, AND FOUND INCREASED POWER ALL ARROUND. THE LARGEST DIFFERENCE WAS, WHEN GOING UP A LONG STEEP GRADE(LIKE IN A SAND PIT) I HAD LESS TROUBLE GETTING UP IT. THE PINK SPRING IS SIMILAR TO STOCK IT HAS A 5 RPM INCREASE, A SLIGHTLY HIGHER TAKE OFF RPM. I THOUGHT THAT TAKE OFF RPM WOULD BE NOTICABLE, BUT IT ISNT BECAUSE I NOW HAVE POWER THERE. IT WAS A KICK A$$ 17.00 PURCHASE.

kj330 i think it's just FANTASTIC that a $17 spring could make such a BIG difference in performance for you. i'm glad things worked-out well for you. congrats!

DONT GET ME WRONG THIS MACHINE IS NO ROCKET. BUT WITH THE OTHER MODS THAT I AM DOING, IT WILL BE A PERFECT RIDE FOR MY WIFE. IT STILL WONT KEEP UP WITH MY 700, BUT SHE MAY EAT A LITTLE LESS DIRT. HA HA

Well- I have heard enough and mine is on order for my 2000 325 Magnum 4x4. I need to take a look at the belt and cover (seems loose but that maybe normal?) any ways since I just bought it. So why not throw in a pink spring while I am there. How do I tell if the belt itself needs to be replaced other than obvious wear or rubber build up in bottom of cover? What is the original width suppose to be? What are the torque specs for the bolts when putting her back together? Sorry for all the questions guys.....

TIGHTEN THE CENTER BOLT TO 40 FT POUNDS. AND THE OTHER SIX SURROUNDING BOLTS TO 7-8 FT POUNDS. THE COVER SHOULD NOT BE LOOSE AT ALL. BUT IT SHOULD HAVE SOME FLEX TO SAY. YOU MAY JUST HAVE A BROKEN PEICE ON THE INSIDE COVER. I DONT NO THE SIZE OF THE WITH OF THE BELT. BUT FOR THE PRICE YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST REPLACE IT FOR YOUR PEICE OF MIND. GOOD LUCK AND REPOST

The cover shouldn't be loose. May just be missing some bolts, but it should be tight. go ahead and replace the belt, it's old enough it should need one anyway. May want to take some steel wool and go over the sheaves to knock off any built up debris on them, but be sure to clean them good after doing that.

my father has a 02 325 magnum and he complains about having to replace the belt often. i know of 2 that he has replaced. his quad doesn't evan come close in the amount of use compared to my trailboss. any ideas on what might be done to improve this? a belt a year seems excessive for a machine that is not ridden very often. my parents do ride it double quite a bit but they are not very heavy (200/130) so i dont think that alone would wear it out. thanks for any help i get.

I did notice the clutch sleeves were glazed over pretty good with rubber from the old belt? Should this glaze be removed with steel wool? Would it make the new belt slip or hang? I just through on the new belt as is. Probably a mistake now in hindsight? Still trying to learn the ins and outs of these quads and their maintenance as you can tell......

The clutch sheaves are supposed to be shiny. If you take steel wool to them it will wear the belt down quicker and the sheaves will get smooth again. You can use soap and water, non chlorinated parts cleaner or alcohol to clean the clutches.
