What's the max RPM I should be getting out my 04 Sportsman 400. It's all stock.
I have been having problmes with the quad since new with power. Last time I rode, I got to 5500rpm an an open gravel road. It seems like it should be higher..

 

It should go higher. I never really made a point of checking to make a note of my "Max RPM"........but I do know when I'm running top speed about 53MPH it is revving at about 6400 RPM.

 

Did you notice a big gain when you went with the pink pri-spring?
What elevation do you ride at? Do you know what jetting you are running?

 

I try not to push mine past 7000 rpm, but somewhere a little above that is where the rev limiter kicks in, I think. Maybe 7200?

I only have it in the 7ks when I'm playing on the ice.
