need help with recoil
#1
Working on an Polaris Trailblazer, i need to get in past the right side case that the recoil wheel rests on. Ive taken off the thin black metal that covers the recoil, i have taken out the six or so bolts out of the case, but it wont budge. My question is, does the recoil wheel have to come off before the case will come off? Or is that the case is just sealed tight enough that im going to have to do more than tug on it? Any help will be appreciated.

Ya, the pull start, the rope is off of it, so all that is left there on the side of the case is the plastic wheel that the rope goes on. So im trying to get on past all of this you know, to expose the inside. The thing is i dont know if that plastic wheel has to come off to get the case off, the reason i am wondering in the first place is that side case wont budge for me, and it seems i have all the bolts out of it. But to get right down to it, if the plastic wheel has to come off for it to release ,how do i do this, if it doesnt have to come off, theres alittle trick im unaware of, to break the seal on that case.

The recoil cover is sealed with a loctite sealant that needs a good rap to get it to release. Then you can access the spring and the special bolt that holds the pulley. This special bolt holds the pawl and its return spring and is square shaped. Hold this in the corner of a vise or put a large crecent wrench in the vise to hold it.remove the pulley counter clock wise. Make sure the alignment tabs are together on reassembly.
Hope ya figure it out, Charlie
