Qball take your machine to the dealer, there is a update .........but you have to tell them that it almost threw you off and get it in writing ..........if you just go in and ask they will not fix it!

Armature plate?????is that the thin donut shaped piece of steel that rests against the coil behind the hub--the one with the 2 rings from apparently the spinning of the wheel? I didn't think to have that in place when I tried the magnet. Does that complete a circuit?

Think I need to go back and start over with the 4 steps...didn't mean to waste you guys' time. I'll try again before I write back

Default magnetic front wheel engagement

Hey! Thanks again for all the suggestions. I went back to the drawing board to double check my figures. I hope this isn't too confusing.

I ran hot and ground directly to the magnetic coil and got lots of magnetism, the coils work (at least the right hand one--I have not cracked the left hub open as yet as the ohms indicated it was good)
I checked continuity on the following:

Red/White wire leading from plug panel to the AWD switch is good,
Red/Wh panel to ETC (elec throttle contr) is good,
leads in AWD switch are good--continuous when on, not cont. when off,
Grey panel to grey AWD good (but see below),
Grey panel to grey ETC good,
Grey AWD to Grey ETC good (must flow through the AWD switch, as it does not lead directly to ETC),
White panel to White ETC good,
Brown panel to Brown AWD good,
Grey to Grey within AWD switch good.

But power does not return down Grey wire that leads to the AWD circuit on panel. It comes from the ETC switch, via AWD switch. The wiring diagram shows R/W from ignition to ETC, becoming Grey/White out to AWD (mines Grey w/o the White???) then comes out of the AWD as the Grey wire, leading to the panel. I now suspect the ECT switch, unless the speed limiter (the white wire) is somehow causing the problem. I just found the trouble-shooting for this in the Polaris manuel. Will check on that. Any more suggestions are welcome.
Thanks, Sal
